Clamp On Ultrasonic Flow Meter

Clamp on flow meter is a flow meter that is very cheap and easy installation, because it does not have to damage the pipe designed for applications where production should not be stopped, because the installation of flow meters is done with puncture, cut and weld pipe. It is ideal for process measurement in applications where users previously had not installed an in-line flow meter and for applications where large line sizes or exotic materials are required for in-line measurement technologies.

Clamp on Ultrasonic flow meter use Transducers that clamped on to the outside of the pipe so it is not necessary to cut pipes or stop flow for installation and there is no pressure loss. Clamp on Ultrasonic flowmeters can measure various types of liquids such as potable water, river water, industrial water, agricultural water, waste water, seawater and pure water. Clamp On Ultrasonic flow meter operates using transit time measurement. By measuring the time it takes a sonic signal to travel a known distance with the flow stream and another signal travelling against the flow stream, it determines the velocity of the fluid being measured. With the sonic properties of the fluid and the pipe material factored in, users get an extremely repeatable accuracy on the volumetric, flow rate being measured. Because the transmitter can process the signal of one or two sensors, it ensures additional economy and the ability to compare or contrast two flow streams, if required. The clamp on ultrasonic flow meter is ideal for users looking for a process measurement device that is easy to install and can maintain flow measurement for clean liquids.

Temporary applications are mainly offered using portable type meters and permanent types are mainly designed for fixed installations. Portable types generally have a memory log or data logging capability to record data and the types designed for permanent applications normally don’t have the recording or data logging capability. However certain types like the Sitelab SL1188 or SL1168  provide a toolbox for logging purposes and to aid in identifying some transitions or abnormal errors during abnormal flow conditions.

Xonic 100L measure transit-time of flow and use DSP (digital signal processing ) technology to analyze ultrasonic signals. This DSP technology can remove any noise from pipe and electronics. Also, Xonic 100L use Cross Correlation and FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) technology to make very clean ultrasonic signals.

Measuring pipe is from 15 ~ 6,000mm, and velocity range is from 0.02 ~ 12 m/sec. Xonic 100L can measure very slow flow, so very suitable for block flow (leak) monitoring system. Also, it has two 4-20mA inputs, so user can use this inputs to receive pressure and temperature data without PLC.

Clamp-On Technology make installation very simple. User just attach clamp- on transducers on pipes or insertion with hot tap valve transducers drill to pipe. Do not need stop water supply for installation and after service. Xonic100L can work with many kinds of pipe, such as: Steel, Stainless (SUS), Ductile Iron, Copper, A/C, PVC, PE, PB, FRP or others if know sound velocity.

Turn-down ratio of Xonic100L is more than 1000 :1.  Xonic 100L is the best flow meter to check minimum flow during mid-nights. The Flow in mid-night is down to 1 m3/ hr for 100 mm pipe and Xonic 100L can keep the accuracy.

Xonic 100L use Cross Correlation technology. The technology is able to remove most noises outside the pipe. Also, Xonic 100L can measure liquids contain heavy air and slurry.

Xonic 100L has large color graphic LCD. It allows user to read the flow, total, analog input data (pressure, level, etc) and the ultrasonic signal diagram. So user can check how flow meter works in field without oscilloscope as diagnostic functions.

Xonic 100L is dual beam or dual path is basic model. User can use as single channel flow meter with one pair transducers, and dual channel or dual path flow meters with two pair transducers.
